Matador Membership

Membership is available to those bar security professionals who believe in the same ideas as the academy. As a member we provide certain services to allow continued growth as individuals and as a network of professionals.

Associate Membership

• Membership Card - Every member will receive a membership card with their name, photo, and security (DPSST) certification number and server permit number if available.
• Certification/Training Tracking – Matador will maintain records of training and certification for all members and notify them when certifications or licenses are close to expiration.
• Discount on Matador Seminars – As a member you will receive a discount on any regular seminars put on by Matador instructors. This discount will vary due to the event, but will be listed on any seminar flier as a member price. Discounts will average around 25% per event.
• Website Membership – When this service becomes available members will have unlimited access to the member area to the Matador Academy website. This will make you part of a community of bar security professionals. You can communicate online through our forum or email, post ads in our classifieds and find out about new training and seminars.

Full Membership
Full Matador members receive all of the above services in addition to the following…

• FREE DPSST Renewal Classes – As a member you will be able to attend a DPSST unarmed renewal class free of charge. We will notify you within 90 days of your expiration date and then work with you to set up a class time for you to attend. Please note that you will still be responsible for paying for the regular DPSST dues regarding your recertification.
• Job Assistance – If a member loses a bar security position or wishes to find new employment in the bar security industry, Matador will assist in finding a new position for that member.
• Member Only Seminars – As the wheels of thought and technique turn in the minds of our instructors, impromptu seminars may arise. A notification of the event will be sent to members of a time and location. Depending on the subject matter, location or some other factor, these seminars may be free or very, very little cost.
• OnCall Network – As temporary work or one night gigs arise, we notify full members by text or email of the opportunity. The first member to return a confirmation will receive the opportunity. This works on a first call, first serve basis.
• Matador Patch – Each full member will receive a free matador patch to attach to their security work shirt or display else where.

Associate members who wish to upgrade their membership status, may do so at any time. Members who wish to be full members may spread payments over 2 months with no penalty. Any member who upgrades with 3 or less months before their expiration, automatically pays renewal fees for a full membership in addition to their upgrade.
